Program Description
Study Duration: May 17- June 28
Brief Introduction
This six week summer program focuses on energy and environment policy and business in China, the second largest economy in the world, and now China is dealing with the energy and environmental challenges caused by the growth of Chinese economy.
Students will take 4-8 credits of pre-determined courses focusing on energy, business,information and communication technologies environmental policy in China. The credits can be transferred. They will also have options to take additional Chinese Language courses at DUT. Extracurricular activities include tours in Liaoning Province, and two week internship.
Main Course
- Overview of the Chiese Economy
The modern Chinese economy consists of a unique combination of state control, state enterprises, and free market entereneurship. This course examines how these segments of the economy work together and how they have generated substantial economic growth for China. - Chinese Energy and Environment Policy and Management
China faces grate challenges supplying energy for its growing economy, as well as issues of energy security. Morever, with economic growth come increased concerns about pollution and other environmental problems. This course examines the Chinese energy and environment regulatory frameworks, how they have acted to increase energy production and protect the environment in China and the economic and business implications of these policies.
Chinese Language Courses
A Survival Chinese Language course and other advanced Chinese language courses are available for interested students. These courses are non-credit bearing, and have an additional cost that will be paid by the student to DUT directly.click here for Environment Focus Class Time-table
Hosing & Meals
Attendants will be housed in dormitories with other international students arranged by the School of International Education at DUT. Students will have access to a public kitchen if they wish to prepare their own meals, or they can eat at dining halls on campus.
Tuition and Activities
The 4373 USD includes tuition, accomodation (double room), registration, insurance, books, management fee and internet. For single rooms, an extra amount of 200 USD should be paid.
